CSV data import wizard guide

The CSV Import Wizard allows agencies to ingest offline data, legacy metrics, bespoke marketing figures, custom e-commerce totals, or influencer campaign results into any MyContentLab client workspace.

Overview and key benefits

Not all marketing data resides inside standard cloud APIs. The CSV Import Wizard gives you full flexibility:

  • Ingest bespoke metrics: Import influencer activations, event ticket sales, physical store visits, or legacy database archives.
  • Visual column mapping: Match spreadsheet columns with MyContentLab standard metrics (Date, Impressions, Clicks, Ad Spend, Conversions, Revenue).
  • Automatic aggregation and date normalization: Handles diverse date formats (YYYY-MM-DD, DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY) and merges overlapping date windows automatically.

File formatting guidelines

To ensure smooth ingestion, prepare your CSV file according to these guidelines:

  1. Header row: The first row must contain column titles (such as Date, Channel, Spend, Impressions, Leads).
  2. Date column: Ensure every data row has a valid date string.
  3. Encoding: Use standard UTF-8 encoded .csv or .tsv files.
  4. Numeric values: Currency values should contain standard numbers without currency symbols (e.g. 1450.50 instead of £1,450.50).
