LinkedIn integration guide

Connect LinkedIn Company Pages and LinkedIn Campaign Manager to MyContentLab to monitor B2B brand reach, thought leadership engagement, lead generation forms, and paid campaign performance.

Overview and key benefits

LinkedIn is the primary network for B2B brand building and professional lead generation. Integrating LinkedIn allows your team to:

  • Track B2B company growth: Monitor follower demographics by job seniority, industry function, and company size.
  • Analyze organic post performance: Ingest post impressions, click-through rates, reposts, comments, and engagement score.
  • Measure sponsored content and lead generation: Track ad spend, Cost Per Lead (CPL), and lead form completion rates from Campaign Manager.
  • Correlate with CRM: Connect LinkedIn leads directly into HubSpot or our CRM Connector to measure pipeline attribution.

Prerequisites

Before connecting LinkedIn to a client workspace:

  1. You have a MyContentLab account with client workspace permissions (Owner, Manager, or Member).
  2. Your personal LinkedIn account has Super Admin or Content Admin access on the target LinkedIn Company Page.
  3. If connecting LinkedIn Ads, your LinkedIn user holds Account Manager, Campaign Manager, or Viewer role on the LinkedIn Ad Account.

What data gets synchronized

Synchronization runs automatically every 2 to 4 hours:

1. LinkedIn Company Page analytics

  • Followers and growth: Total followers, organic vs paid follower acquisition, visitor page views.
  • Post engagement: Impressions, unique impressions, reactions (Like, Celebrate, Support, Insightful, Funny), comments, reposts.
  • Click metrics: Clicks on post links, engagement rate percentage.

2. LinkedIn Campaign Manager performance

  • Total ad spend and daily pacing
  • Impressions, clicks, average CPC, and average CPM
  • Sponsored InMail and message open rates and response rates
  • Lead Generation Form submissions, form completion rate, and Cost Per Lead (CPL)

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Why do LinkedIn OAuth tokens expire frequently?

LinkedIn OAuth tokens have a standard 60-day lifespan. MyContentLab automatically refreshes tokens in the background; however, if your personal LinkedIn password is changed or multi-factor authentication is reset, you will see a prompt in the Attention Queue to click Reconnect.

Can I connect a personal LinkedIn profile instead of a Company Page?

LinkedIn's official API policies restrict third-party reporting tools to LinkedIn Company Pages and Ad Accounts. Personal profiles cannot be connected via the official API.
