Meta (Facebook and Instagram) integration guide

Connect your Facebook Pages, Instagram Business / Creator Accounts, and Meta Ads Manager to MyContentLab to synchronize organic social engagement, follower growth, audience demographics, and paid campaign performance.

Overview and key benefits

Meta is central to modern paid and organic distribution. Integrating Meta channels allows your agency to:

  • Unify organic and paid performance: View organic post reach alongside paid ad campaigns in a single dashboard.
  • Track short-form video velocity: Monitor Instagram Reels watch time, retention, saves, and share counts.
  • Analyze ad spend and ROAS: Track cost per click (CPC), click-through rate (CTR), cost per acquisition (CPA), and return on ad spend (ROAS) across all active campaigns and ad sets.
  • Automated client reporting: Include branded Meta performance summaries in monthly PDF exports and client portal dashboards.

TIP

Initial data retrieval pulls the last 30 to 90 days of performance history, which populates in your analytics graphs within 60 seconds.

Security and data privacy

  • Read-only API access: MyContentLab only pulls performance metrics. It cannot post, publish, delete, or alter any ads or organic posts on your accounts.
  • Encrypted credentials: Authentication tokens are encrypted with AES-256 and stored securely in isolated tenant vaults.
  • Granular scopes: We only request minimum necessary read scopes (pages_read_engagement, instagram_manage_insights, ads_read).

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Why is my Instagram account not showing in the selection list?

Ensure your Instagram profile is set to a Business Account or Creator Account (personal accounts are not supported by the Meta Graph API) and that it is linked to a verified Facebook Page in Meta Business Suite.

What should I do if Meta metrics stop updating?

Meta requires periodic re-authentication when passwords change or security reviews occur:

  1. Open Connections in your client workspace.
  2. Click Reconnect on the Meta card.
  3. Complete the OAuth confirmation to restore live data sync.

Can I connect multiple Facebook Pages or Ad Accounts to one client?

Each client workspace is designed for a single primary brand identity. To track multiple separate brands, create a dedicated client workspace for each brand.
