Google Ads integration guide

Connect Google Ads Accounts (including Manager / MCC Accounts) to MyContentLab to monitor Search, Display, YouTube Video, and Performance Max (PMax) campaigns inside unified client dashboards.

Overview and key benefits

Google Ads powers high-intent search and multi-channel performance advertising. Integrating Google Ads allows you to:

  • Track Paid Search and PMax ROI: Monitor Cost Per Acquisition (CPA), Return on Ad Spend (ROAS), and total conversion value.
  • Budget pacing and spend alerts: Receive notifications in the agency Attention Queue when campaigns overspend or underspend against monthly caps.
  • MCC multi-account support: Connect agency Google Ads Manager Accounts (MCC) and map individual sub-accounts to client workspaces.
  • Cross-channel paid comparison: Compare Google Ads ROAS directly against Meta Ads and TikTok Ads.

Prerequisites

  1. An active MyContentLab client workspace.
  2. A Google Account with Administrative, Standard, or Read-Only access to the Google Ads Customer ID (CID) or parent MCC.

What data gets synchronized

Synchronization runs automatically every 2 to 4 hours:

  • Spend and cost: Total ad spend, daily average cost, budget pacing.
  • Traffic and delivery: Total impressions, clicks, click-through rate (CTR), average cost per click (Avg CPC).
  • Conversions: Conversions, conversion rate (%), cost per conversion (CPA), total conversion value, and ROAS.
  • Campaign types: Categorized breakdown across Search, Performance Max, Display, Video, and Shopping.

Step-by-step connection walkthrough

  1. In the client workspace, navigate to Connections.
  2. Click Connect on the Google Ads card.
  3. Sign in with the Google Account that has access to your Google Ads CID or MCC.
  4. Grant the requested read-only scope:

  5. If using an MCC account, choose the target Child Customer Account ID (XXX-XXX-XXXX) for this client.
  6. Click Confirm.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

What if our agency uses a Google Ads Manager (MCC) Account?

MyContentLab has native MCC support. When authenticating with your master MCC Google user, you will see a dropdown listing all linked child ad accounts. Simply select the relevant client account ID.
